Henry Glfford (1830 – 2 October 1890)
Henry was born in Foxton, the son of William and Sarah Gifford and was baptised at the Non-Conformist Meeting House in Foulmere in October 1830. His father was a farmer and lime burner, and in 1851 Henry was assisting his father on the farm. He later worked as a general dealer, and in 1861 was living at 22 Paradise Street, Cambridge with his widowed sister Elizabeth. Henry married Harriet Bowman in 1866 and they lived at 194 East Road. In 1871/1881 he was documented as a fruiter, and it is believed he had a fruit stall on the market. He died at home aged 59 years old.
Harriet Sarah Gifford (née Bowman) (1822 – 19 June 1894)
Harriet was born in Fowlmere and in 1861 was lodging at 22 South Street, working as a dressmaker. After she was widowed she continued to live at 194 East Road with servant Elizabeth Mott (1891). She died at home and her funeral was held on 22 June.
Elizabeth Ison (née Gifford) (c.1818 – 27 June 1896)
Elizabeth was also born in Foxton, and baptised there on 25 January 1818. She married bricklayer William Ison (1812-1859) in 1844 and they had at least five children: Charles Gifford (1846-1930), Elizabeth (1847-), Emma (1850-1918), William (1853-) and Henry (1856-). The family lived at 17 Albert Street (1851) and Adam and Eve Row. William Ison died in August 1859 and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery, although it is not known if he was buried in this grave plot. Elizabeth then lived at 22 Paradise Street where she ran a grocery shop (1861) and later worked as a dressmaker (1871). Elizabeth died at home and her funeral was held on 2 July.
