William Goode (17 July 1815 – 14 July 1879)
William was the son of Christopher and Etty (née Free) Goode. William became a bricklayer like his father. He married Eliza Coe at St Andrew the Less Church on 5 May 1836 and the couple had one daughter: Harriet (1838 – 1903). Eliza died in May 1839 and William was left a widower.
He then married Mary, who it is believed, also had the surname of Goode. The marriage is not thought to have taken place until August 1848. The couple had at least seven children: Henry William (1845-1864), Eliza (1848-1911), David (1850-), Elizabeth (1856-), George (1858-1943), Frederick Charles (1861-1895) and Arthur William (1864-1944). They lived at Adam and Eve Street (1841/1851) and then at 28 John Street (1861/1871). In 1861 the census noted that William was employing one man and three boys in his bricklaying business. He died at 61 Eden Street aged 63 years old.
Mary Goode (née Goode) (24 February 1826 – 19 January 1910)
Mary was born in Haslingfield and is believed to have been the daughter of David and Susan (née Hall) Goode. After being widowed she initially continued to live at 61 Eden Street and was living there in 1881 with her children Eliza, George, Frederick and Arthur. By 1891 she had moved to live at 1 Newmarket Road with Arthur and his wife Angelina. In 1901 she was living at Thrifts Walk in Chesterton with Arthur, Angelina, their two children, her daughter Eliza, and two grandchildren (who were the sons of Frederick Goode who had died in 1895). Mary died aged 83 years old.
