William Waterloo Haslop (c.1815 – 22 April 1894)

William was the son of printer John Spencer Haslop (1789-1867) and Elizabeth Agnes (née Bride) (1789-) and married Eliza Banks on 10 March 1850. The couple had at least one son: George William (1860-1930) and lived at White Hart Yard (1851), Prospect Row (at least 1861-1871) and 38 Adam and Eve Street (1881). William was a general labourer, and by 1891 was living with his son George and daughter in law Hagar at 22 Abbey Road. He died at 64 St Andrew’s Street aged 78 years old and the funeral was held on 26 April.

Eliza Elizabeth Haslop (née Banks)  (25 January 1825 – 3 June 1897)

Eliza was born in Saffron Walden and baptised at St. Mary the Virgin Church on 20 March 1825. She was the daughter of labourer George Banks and his wife Hannah and grew up at Cuckington End Street, Saffron Walden. After her son was an adult, Eliza worked as a monthly nurse. In 1881 she was working for the Pain family at 13 Sidney Street, and in 1891 for the Mansfield family at 3 Arundel Villa, Station Road. She died at Abbey Road, the home of her son George aged 72 years, although her age was recorded as 71 years on the grave monument.  Her funeral was held on 7 June.
