Inscription

William Taylor (1827 – 30 October 1870)

Very little is known of William’s life. He married Mary Ann (1828-) and worked as a bootmaker. He died at 16 John Street aged 43 years old.

Ann Hickleton (c.1794 –  5 January 1875)

Ann was William’s mother and was born in Letton, Norfolk – a village five mile south west of Dereham. It is thought she married twice – to a Mr Taylor and a Mr Hickleton.  She came to Cambridge and worked as a monthly nurse for   Thomas and Eliza Stearn at 72 Bridge Street (1861) and then lived with her daughter in law Mary at John Street. She died at home aged 82 years old and her funeral took place on 9 January.
