Walter Lee (1856 – 22 June 1926)
Walter was the son of John Male Lee and Caroline (née Munns) brother of Arthur and was baptised on 31 August 1856 at St. Paul’s Church. He grew up at 9 Bentinck Street and his father worked as a gardener, his mother as a dressmaker. At the age of 14 Walter was working as an errand boy, and later worked as a tinman (1881). He married Harriett George in 1884 and they had seven children: Harriett Ethel (1885-1966), Hilda Lilan (1886-1965), Walter George (1887-), Ellen Muriel (1890-), Mabel Violet (1893-1962), Daisy May (1896-1987) and Sylvia Jane (1899-1986). Walter worked as a tinman/tin worker and the family lived at 94 New Street. He died at home aged 69 years old.
Harriett Isabella Lee (née George) (18 February 1858 – 31 March 1940)
Harriett grew up at 10 Kettle’s Yard with her shoemaker father William, mother Jane and eleven siblings. Prior to her marriage to Walter she worked as a domsestic servant to Francis and Emma Harraden at 50 Sidney Street. After she was widowed she went to live at 41 Blinco Grove with daughter Harriett, son in law Lawrence Maltby and daughters Mabel, Daisy and Sylvia. She died at Blinco Grove aged 82 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 3 April 1940.
