Monument

This cross, stands in the parish area of St Edwards, 8 rows east of the west path towards the centre of the parish. The inscription of metal letters is in good order but in 2022 bramble had started to encroach in this area.

It is one of 4 family monuments of the Hunt Family. ED86, ED85, ED84, ED83

In Loving Memory of my dear wife ETHEL MAY HUNT who died 1 Dec 1925 aged 37

Ethel Mary Hunt (1888 1 December 1925)

Ethel was the daughter of Edward & Clara Stearn she was born at 16 East Road and baptised at St Matthew’s Church on December 23rd 1888. By 1891 the family were living at 15 Grafton St. her father Edward worked at one of the colleges. On April 8th 1912 she married plumber William Hunt in the parish of Andrew the Less, when she was 23 years old. They moved to 83 Hemmingford Road where Ethel gave birth to a son, Edward William, on September 12th 1913.
Ethel died at 82 Hemingford Road, and was buried at Mill Road Cemeteyr on December 5th.

William and Edward continued to live in Hemingford Road where they ran a plumbing business. Edward married and was still there in 1974

William’s Parents are buried 2 monuments to the south Charles & Priscilla Hunt
