Elizabeth Seabrook (née Clayton) (1822 – 19 October 1892)
Elizabeth was born in Bottisham, a village six miles east of Cambridge. She was the daughter of agricultural labourer Robert Clayton and Joanna (née Plumb). She married widower John Seabrook on 13 August 1848 in Bottisham. John was a buider/bricklayer who had six children from his first marriage and they lived at 21 Norfolk Street (1851), Broad Street (1855) and Burleigh Street. John and Elizabeth had at least four children together: John William (1850-1933), Sarah (1852-1855), William Clayton (1855-1908) and Alice (1859-1937). Elizabeth was widowed in 1859 and afterwards continued to live at 48 Burleigh Street with her three children where she worked as a ‘mangle woman’/laundress (1861/1871). In 1881 she was still living at Burleigh Street, but by then was a dressmaker. Census records show that Elizabeth had been deaf since c.1851.

John William Seabrook (1817 – 31 October 1859)
John was the son of John Seabrook and was born in Blackheath. He married Maria Parr (1815-1845) on 14 March 1834 in Burwell and they had at least six children: Ellen Maria (1834-1903), Mary Ann (1838-1935), George (1839-1861), Elizabeth Alice (1840-1906), Emma (1843-1877) and Lucy (1845-1879). John died at Burleigh Street aged 42 years old and was buried in Burwell.
Emily Ison (1863 – 7 April 1904)
Emily is believed to have been born in Swaffham Prior, two miles south west of Burwell and was the daughter of William and Mary Ann (née Nottage) Ison. Emily grew up in Burwell with her maternal grandparents Charles and Lucy Nottage and aged 18 was working as a kitchen maid (1881). In 1891 she was living with her widowed grandfather and acting as his housekeeper. After Charles died in 1893 she is believed to have moved to live at Burleigh Street with the Seabrook family. What her link with the family was is not known, although they both had links with Burwell. Emily died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital aged 41 years old.
