Arthur Kimpton (16 February 1847 – 31 January 1912)
Arthur was born in Horningsea and baptised there on 3 November 1850. He was the son of John and Rebekah Kimpton and grew up in Horningsea where his father was a master wheelwright. He married Harriet Bitton in 1868 in Cambridge. They briefly lived in Islington (1871) where Arthur worked as a plumber, but returned to live at Histon Road (1881) and then 48 Ainsworth Street (1891 onwards). Arthur worked as a painter and glazier and the couple had eleven children: John Arthur (1868-), George William (1870-1960), Mabel Jane (1872-1877), Rev. Canon Albert Edward (1874-1952), Percy (1876-1938), Ethel Maud (1878-1905), Alice Mabel (1880-1963), Ruth (1881-1965), Nora Laura (1883-1941), Gertrude (1885-1963) and Martha (1887-1889). Arthur died at Ainsworth Street at the age of 64 years.
Ethel Maud Kimpton (1878 – 15 July 1905)
Ethel was the second daughter of Arthur and Harriet and died aged 27 years old
Mabel Jane Kimpton (c.1872 – 11 February 1877)
Mabel died aged 5 years old.
Martha Kimpton (1886 – 8 April 1889)
Martha died at Ainsworth Street just before her 3rd birthday.
Harriett Maria Kimpton (née Bitton) (1848 – 30 July 1933)
Harriett was born in Waterbeach and was the daughter of miller George Bitton and his wife Martha. She married Arthur when she was 19 years old and after being widowed went to live at 40 Seymour Buildings in St. Pancras, London. Seymour Building was an early form of social housing and Harriett died there aged 84 years old. Her estate was worth just £3 5s 1d.
