Susannah M. Lambert (1840-1901)

Born in Fakenham, Susannah was the daughter of basket maker Thomas and Hannah (née Manning).  She grew up on Oak Street with her parents, but in 1881 was lodging in Preston, Lancashire and was documented as being an unemployed dressmaker.  She then went to live with  Mary Constable, the seemingly estranged wife of William Constable at Devonshire Road (1891) and 107 Hills Road (1901).  The 1901 census records Susannah as being a ‘sister’ of Mary, but it is not thought the two women were related, and she was possibly Mary’s companion/nursemaid. Susannah died at Hills Road at the age of 61.
