Harriet Layton (1848 – 6 March 1926)
Harriet was the daughter of Edward and Ann Maria (née Sovard) and was baptised on 5 March 1848 at St. Mary the Less Church. She grew up at 7 Bradmore Street and her father was a printer. Harriet worked as a servant and in 1871 was living at 2 Park Terrace where she was servant to Edward King, Chaplain of Sidney Sussex College. In 1881 she was working for Lydia Mutton at 54 Rhadgund Buildings on Jesus Lane before movign to Trinity Street to work for tailor John and SusannahThurlbourn (1891/1901). When the census of 1911 was taken she was a patient at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and retired to live at 1 Hobart Street. She died aged 77 years old.
Elizabeth Layton (1857 – 11 March 1934)

Elizabeth was Harriet’s sister and also worked as a domestic servant. She worked as a housemaid at The Priory, Nutfield (1881), Stretton Hall, Leciestershire (1891), Enderby, Leicestershire (1901) and Upton House, near Poole, Dorset (1911). She moved back to Cambridge and lived at 1 Hobart Road.
Emily Layton (1851 – 12 April 1937)

Emily worked as a certified primary (infant) school teacher and taught at Wrexham (1871), Bexhill, Sussex (1881), Goudhurst, Kent (1891), Brightwell, Berkshire (1901). In 1911 she was living at Rectory Cottage in Brightwell and was described as ‘head teacher infant department’. She later lived at 1 Hobart Road and died there aged 86 years old.
