Ann Maria Layton (née Sovard) (c.1824 – 1863)

Ann Maria was born in Cambridge and married Edward Layton in 1841 at the age of 17. They lived at 7 Bradmore Street, and Edward worked as a printer, whilst Ann was a launderess.

They had at least six children: Sarah Ann (1844-1919), Harriet (1848-1926), Emily (1850-1937), Elizabeth (1857-1934), Louisa (1860-) and Edwin (1863-1906). Ann died in 1863 aged 39 years old.

Edward Layton (c.1821 – 16 February 1900)

Edward was born in Cambridge and was the son of Thomas and Mary Layton and brother of Emma.  Thomas was a printer, and Edward followed in his fathers footsteps. He married when he was 20 years old.

After being widowed he continued to live at 7 Bradmore Street with his eldest daughter Sarah Ann and her family.  When she too was widowed he lived with her at Sedley Cottage, 356 Mill Road and died there aged 79 years old.
