The headstone in November 2025.

This headstone in the parish of Andrew the less stands one row to the west of the central path just as it bends towards the Norfolk Street gate. The inscription of inset metal letters is in good order. The monument is liable to be covered in ivy and holly bushes are growing up in this area.

Who entered into rest  Dec. 24 1924.  Aged 58 years.

Philip Octavius Milburn (1867 – 24 December 1924)

Philip was born in Brighton, and was the youngest son of William and Elizabeth Milburn. He was baptised at St Nicholas Church in Brighton on 8th March 1868.  By 1871 he was living in Battersea with his parents and three brothers – William Milburn worked as a ‘house decorator.  Eizabeth Milburn died in January 1875 when Philip was 7 years old.  William Milburn then returned to his home city of Cambridge and remarried Emily Amelia Pilbrow.  Philip was living with his father, step mother and step sibling at 4 John Street in 1881 when he was 14 years old.

By 1891 he had followed in his fathers profession and was working asa house painter, and living as a lodger at 127 Vinery Road.  He married Harriett Eliza Fuller in 1895 when he was 28 years old.  They lived together at 4 John Street [1901] and later at 19 Grafton Street [1911].  He was still living at 19 Grafton Street in 1924.  He died on Christmas Eve at Addenbrookes Hospital.

His widow Harriett died in 1950 in Cambridge.

Leonard James Milburn (1859 – 1885)

Leonard was the second son of William and Elizabeth Milburn.  He was born in Chelsea, and baptised at St Luke, Chelsea on 31st July 1859.  He appears to have moved to Cambridge with his family.  In 1881 he was working as a house painter, and living with his brother William and his wife at 2 Proctors Buildings, Norfolk Street.  He died in early 1885 aged 25 years old.
