William Reynolds (c.1846 – 14 January 1904)
William was the son of grocer/draper William Reynolds and his wife Sarah. He was born in Woodhurst, five miles north east of Huntingdon where his father ran a store in the village. By the age of 14 (1861) William was working in the family business.
He married Emily Panton on 26 September 1872 at St. Peter’s Church in Walworth, London and they had four children: May Emily (1875-1953), Alice E (1877-), Robert William (1879-1946) and Florence Hilda (1885-). The couple moved to Outwell, five miles south of Wisbech where they ran a grocer/drapery store on Church Terrace. In 1881 they had one assistant and two apprentices living with them and all four children were born in Outwell. William’s father died in 1882, and his brother Frank who had been been helping to run the family business had moved to nearby Somersham, so by 1891 William and his family had returned to Woodhurst. The census of that year documented him as a grocer/draper.
In 1901 William and Emily were at 205-207 Newmarket Road where he ran a grocery/bakery (brother Frank had taken over running the store in Woodhurst). He died aged 57 years old,
Emily Jane Reynolds (née Panton) (1849 – 15 March 1936)
Emily was born in London and was brought up in Camberwell and then Walworth. Her parents were Robert and Mary and her father worked as a law writer/law stationer. Aged 21 she was living at home and working as a sewing machinist. She married William when she was 22 years old.
After she was widowed she went to live at 149 Gwydir Street with daughter Florence (1911). Emily died aged in 1936.
