Monument
This headstone with surmounted cross and kerb stones, in the parish area of St Andrew the Less, is located close to the north entrance, at beginning of the split between the western and centre paths. It was restored in 2016, with money from the City Council and Friends of Mill Road Cemetery, as it is very prominent and is an elegant, unusually shaped headstone.

Sidney John Smith (c.1874 ‒ 2 April 1923)
Sidney was the son of George and Emily Smith. He grew up at 103a King Street, and his father worked as a chimney sweep. By 1891 his father had died, and he was living with his widowed mother and brothers and working as a print compositor. He married Agnes Johnson in 1901 when he was 27 years old.
Sidney and Agnes had two sons: Lionel Sidney (1903-1903) and Colin Sidney C (1904-1976). The family lived at 38 Walnut Tree Avenue (1911). Sidney died in 1923 aged 49 years old.
Agnes Mary W Smith (née Johnson) (26 April 1877 ‒ 9 May 1960)
Agnes was born in Cambridge and married Sidney Smith aged 24 years old. Immediately prior to marriage she had been living at 30 Magdalene Street with her sister and her family, and had been working as a barmaid. She was widowed aged 45 years old, and later lived at 9 Abbey Road. She died aged 83 years old.
Lionel Sidney Smith (January 1902 – 23 March 1903)
Lionel was the eldest son of Sidney and Agnes Smith. He died aged 14 months.
