This sturdy headstone in the parish area of Andrew the Less stands about 7 rows west of the central path just before it bends towards the north gate. Despite the tree that now grows within the grave set the kerbstones are still in place and the inscription undamaged.

Also of WILLIAM MUNCEY SMITH. Died July 11th 1908 aged 23 years

Mabel Tyrrell (c.1895 – 17 April 1939)
Mabel was the daughter of Thomas & Louisa Smith. Thomas was a baker. Although Thomas was born in Cambridge he married Louisa in Canterbury in 1884 and their first 3 children were registered in Ramsgate. 4th child Clarence was registered in Cambridge in1890. Louisa died in 1901
It is believed that Mabel Smith married 28 year old Frank Harold Tyrrell at St Matthew’s church on April 19th 1923. Frank was an assistant fireman.
Mabel died at 33 Thoday Street and her funeral was held on 20 April
Frank died in 1973.

William (Willie) Muncey Smith (30 September 1884 – 11 July 1908)
Willie was the son of William and Jane Smith, but his father died when he was a very young child. Jane married for a second time to plasterer Joseph Young, and Willie grew up at 137 Sturton Street. Aged 16 he was working as a cook’s porter and died at the Sanitorium aged 23 years old.
