Relationship: Mother and Son

Raymond W.S. Stalley (1908 – 16 October 1925)

Raymond was the illegitimate son of Florence Stalley.  He was born in Littleport, and died in Cambridge aged 17 years old. Information from the family suggests that he might have been killed in a motorbike accident.

Florence Louise Stalley (25 September 1878 – 24 October 1947)

Florence was the daughter of James Chamberlain Stalley and his wife Annette.  She was born in Mepal, and grew up there when she was small before later moving to  Chatteris (1891).  Her father was an agricultural worker and later a drayman, who died in a work related accident in 1898.  In 1901 Florence was living in Wellington Street, Littleport with her mother, sisters Edith and Ivy and was working as a drapers assistant.  Her illegitimate son Raymond was born in 1908, and he died in Cambridge, where Florence, her mother and Ivy were by then living.  In 1939 Florence and Ivy were living at 34 Victoria Road where Ivy ran a lodging house.  She died in 1947 aged 69 years old.
