Who departed this life August 7 1870 aged 64
John Robert Wentzell ( 14 January 1806 – 7 August 1870)
Born to Augustine and Hannah Wentzell. John was baptised at the church of St Ann and St Agnes, London on 12th February 1806. He married Ann Cornwell on December 25th 1832 at St Benedict’s Church in Cambridge. John was a printer and book keeper at the Cambridge University Press. John and Ann had at least nine children: Henry Thomas (1833-1876), Ann Whitrow (1835-1841), Charles John (1837-1841), Hannah Sarah (1839-1929), Abigail (1841-1885), Charles John (1843-1881), John Robert (1844-1890), Edwin (1847-) and Emma Mary (1854-1900). Their children Ann and Charles died within three days of each other in 1841.
In 1841 the family were living in Doric Street, later they moved to Parsonage Street (at least 1851 onwards). Ann Wentzell died at home in October 1867 after what newspapers described as ‘a lingering illness’. John died three years later at home in Parsonage Street, and newspapers described his death as ‘sudden’.
