This plinth stands in the parish of St Andrew the Less, in front of 2 headstones in a family group. They are located just south of the north path that leads from the centre path to the east path. It is believed the cross is partially buried within the kerb stones.

Jane Wheaton (née Wesson) (5 April 1854 – 3 May 1885)
Jane was the daughter of Thomas and Maria (née Briggs) Wesson and grew up at 47 Fitzroy Street where her father ran the Wesson Brewery and ‘The Old English Gentleman’ pub. Aged 16 (1871) she was living at home and working as a milliner. She married Henry Wheaton on 19 December 1882 at Christ’s Church, Cambridge. Jane died at Fitzroy Street aged 31 years old.
Jane’s sister Phoebe married Henry Wheaton’s brother Samuel George Wheaton.
Henry William Wheaton (27 March 1854 – 10 May 1949)
Henry was the son of Joseph and Sophia Wheaaton and grew up on South Street where his father was a journeyman printer. Aged 18 he joined the Navy as an apprentice and served from 1873-1879. From his Navy records it is known that he was 5ft 6″ tall with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. He married Jane Wesson when he was 28 years old and then married for a second time to Martha Tann (1859-1926) in 1887
Henry and Martha had five children: Harold Joseph (1885-1975), Margaret Amy (1888-1978), Clara Isabella (1891-1973), Mabel Winifred (1895-) and Samuel Henry W (1897-1914). In 1891 Henry was running the Alexandra Bar at 8 Alexandra Street, but by 1901 the family had moved to Portsmouth where he worked as a commision agent. Martha Wheaton died in Fareham, Hampshire in 1926 and Henry moved back to live in Cambridge. In 1939 he was living at 55 Abbey Road and was described as a retired gardener. He died aged 95 years old in 1949.
