This plinth with broken cross resting on the west side is in the 2nd row east of the west path. The inscription is difficult to read and partially hidden. We have found it difficult to interpret.

Francis Henry Edward Wilton (26 June 1852 – 31 May 1874)
Francis was the son of Edward Wilton and his wife Caroline. He was born at Galloway House Park in Garlieston, Wigton where his father was the domestic chaplain to the Earl of Galloway.
In 1861 he was living with his parents and siblings at 8 South Parade in Doncaster, where his father was working in connection with his role to the Earl of Galloway. His father died in 1864 when Francis was 12 years old. Aged 18 [1871] he was living with his widowed mother in York and was a pupil at St Peter’s School.
He went up to Cambridge in October 1871 and was at Corpus Christi. He was following in his father’s footsteps to become a priest, but died aged 21 years old in Cambridge.
