Also of Mum and Dad HANNAH and JOE WINDWOOD

Philip Thomas Windwood (24 September 1906 – 12 December 1968)

Philip was the eldest son of Hannah & Joe Windwood and was born in Cambridge. He was baptised in the parish of St Matthew, at St James’ Mission Church in Ainsworth St, on January 27, 1907, when the family were living at 3 Brandon Place. The family were living at the Cottage, Cherry Hinton Road in 1911 and his father was working as a groom. The family moved to live in Hitchin c.1912/1913 and Philip married Florence Emily Gates (1905-1973) there in 1931. The couple lived at 59 Chiltern View, Hitchin and he worked as a frame setter for a company which made prams/wheelchairs. Philip died in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

Hannah Jane  Windwood (née Allensby) (3 June 1877 – 1957)

Hannah was the daughter of tailor Thomas Allensby.
She married Joe Windwood on 7 May, 1905, and they had six children: Philip Thomas, Walter George (1907-1908), Kate Elizabeth (1907-), William (1909-2005), Stanley George (1913-1966) and Evelyn Rose (1917-2017). The couple later lived at 24 Redhill Road, Hitchin where Joe worked as a private goom/gardener. Hannah died in Hitchin aged 80 years old.

Joshua (Joe) Windwood (25 July 1880 – 1962)

Joshua (Joe) was the son of tailor Joshua (1841-1924) and Eliza (née Jenner) (1842-1930) Windwood. He grew up in Sleaford St. Joe was a groom/ stableman until 1908 when he was described as a  coachman. He later worked as a groom/gardener and died in Hitchin aged 81 years old.

It is possible that Joe and Hannah’s infant son Walter George Windwood was buried at Mill Road Cemetery, but no record of his burial was found in the burial record.
