Elizabeth Mary Woodward (née Walters) (1882 – 18 May 1916)
Elizabeth was born in West Ham, but had moved to Cambridge by the time she was 6 years old. She was the daughter of William (1858-1918) and Elizabeth (née Dawson) (1856-1923), and grew up at 3 Hope Street. William was a railway signal fitter and Elizabeth married railway shunter George Henry Woodward (1878-1930) in 1906. They lived at 25 Madras Road and had at least three children: William Alexander (1908-1991), Leonard (1910-1989) and Nellie May (1912-1992). She died at home and her funeral took place on 22 May 1916.
George Woodward married for a second time in June 1917 to Margaret Alice Whiffen (1886-1971) and had a further five children.
Elizabeth’s father William Walters was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 19 March 1918 aged 60 years old. His grave has not yet been identified.
