Elizabeth Skelton (née Bradford) (1803 – 5 May 1873)

Elizabeth was born in Farcet, two miles south of Peterborough and baptised there on 2 October 1803. She was the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Bradford and married farmer John Skelton on 21 April 1823 in Farcet. Elizabeth and John had two sons: Samuel Bradford (1824-1892) and Richard (1827-1913).  John farmed in Ramsey, nine miles north of Huntingdon and died on New Years Day 1828 aged 25 years old. In 1871 Elizabeth was living with her son Richard and daughter in law in Peterborough, where Richard farmed 56 acres. She died at Panton Street and her funeral was held on 8 May.

Samuel  Bradford Skelton (1824 – 28 July 1898)

Samuel was baptised in Farcet on 18 April 1824 and worked as a cabinet maker/upholsterer/furniture broker. It is believed he had a shop at 3 Bridge Street from at least 1862 onwards. He also was married and widowed, although no record of a marriage has been found. In 1881 he was lodging at Madingley Road and died in Chesterton aged 75 years old. Samuel was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 1 August.
