Located towards the north of the parish close to the where the central path turns towards the north gate. Many of the metal letters are missing from the inscription.

In Loving Memory of SARAH BOWMAN died Oct 31 1899 aged 73 years

Also JOHN BOWMAN husband of the above died April 5 1907 aged 87 years

Sarah Bowman (née Darling) (c.1823 – 31 October 1899)

Sarah was the daughter of William and Ann and  grew up at 16 Staffordshire Place. Her father was a labourer and Sarah worked as a stay/corset maker.  She married upholsterer John Bowman in 1845 and they lived at 22 South Street (1851), 1 John Street (1861), 39 Paradise Street (1871) and 13 Victoria Street (1881 to at least 1891). Sarah and John had at least seven children: Arthur (1846-), George William Tarrant (1848-1933), Alfred Edwin (1850-), Sarah Ann Tarrant (1852-1950), Ebenezer Joseph (1856-), Louisa Tarrant (1860-) and Walter Tarrant (1861-1947). Sarah died at 20 Abbey Road and her funeral was held on 4 November 1899.

John Tarrant Bowman (c.1820 –  5 April 1907)

John was born in Stepney, and married Sarah in Cambridge in 1845. He worked as an upholsterer and after he was widowed lived with his eldest son Arthur and his family at 2 Victoria Street (1901).  John died at 43 Norfolk Terrace and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 8 April 1907.

Sarah and John’s grandson Horace is also buried at Mill Road Cemetery.
