They had at least eight children together Emily [1856-1861], John George [1858-1920], Henry Edward [1860-1860], Andrew [1861-], Charles Frederick [1863-1947], Ralph Herbert [1864-1867], Frederick A [1865-] and Marcus Dennis [1865-1948].
John Bradford was a college cook and the family lived on Regent Street, and later at 10 Silver Street [1871]. Mary died aged 43 years old in 1874.

In 1881 he was a widower and was living at Garden Walk, Victoria Road, Chesterton. He died there aged 60 years in 1889 after having been ill for some time. He was being attended to by two doctors and a nurse before his death and required round the clock nursing. He left an estate valued at £4,500 4s.
Emily Bradford (1 September 1856 – April 1861)
Emily was the first born child of John and Mary Bradford. She died at Regent Street aged 4 years olda nd her funeral was held on 8 April 1861.
Henry Edward Bradford (11 February 1860 – 11 April 1860)

Ralph Herbert Bradford (31 July 1861 – 3 September 1867)
Ralph was the sixth child of John and Mary Bradford. He died aged 3 years old as a result of a fall at home. He had been with his mother upstairs, and she had asked him to go and play with the baby in the back room. He had only been gone two or three minutes when he fell out of the window onto the yard below, and died as a result of the injuries. The inquest heard that ‘there was a high wire blind against the window, which had been put up expressley to prevent deceased and the other children form opening the bottom of the window, and deceased must have climbed on to the back of a chair, or he could not have fallen out. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, adding that all reasonable precautions had been taken, and that no negligence was chargeable on the parents’.
John and Mary’s son Marcus also trained as a cook and ran the University Arms Hotel for many years. Marcus’ wife and son are also buried at Mill Road Cemetery
