William Bullen (1859 – 3 April 1904)
William was born in Willingham,a village twelve miles north west of Cambridge and baptised there on 16 January 1859. He was the only child of James and Mary Ann Bullen and grew up in Willingham, where his father was an agricultural labourer. He married Mary Moden in 1880 and they had six children: Lizzie Ann (1882-), Arthur William (1884-1947), Alfred John (1886-1945), Ernest James (1889-1975), Bertram Joseph (known as Bertie) (1890-1941) and a child who died as an infant. They lived at 22 Fitzroy Street, and William worked as a wine merchant’s porter (1881), before then working as a porter for Great Eastern Railway (1891 onwards). In 1901 they were living at 1 Montreal Road, where he died. The funeral was held on 8 April.
Mary Bullen (née Moden) (1859 – 27 February 1912)
Mary was the daughter of agricultural labourer John Moden and his wife Mary. She was born in Sutton, near Ely and baptised there on 2 October 1859. She married William Bullen when she was 21 years old and after she was widowed continued to live at Montreal Street.
