Helen Ceadel  (née Buckingham) (1851 – 8 April  1919)

Helen was born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and was the daughter of George and Ann (née Cooper).  George Buckingham was a wood turner and croquet maker, and aged 19 Helen was living at home and working as a teacher. She married Robert Ceadel on 18 July 1872 at Old Church, St. Pancras, London.  Robert was a railway carriage examiner and the couple had eight children: Helen (Nell) (1874-1934), Mary Jane (1877-1959), Beatrice Ann Buckingham (1879-1956), Emily Louise (1882-1954), Grace Elizabeth (1885-1955), Albert Edward (Bert) (1888-1945), George Victor (1895-1979) and one further child who died as an infant.  They lived in Hitchin until at least 1890 and then moved to live at 5 Charles Street (1891), 32 Argyle Street (1901) and 153 Mill Road (1911). Helen died after ‘great suffering’ and her funeral took place on 11 April.

Robert Ceadel (1847-6 July 1921)

Robert was born and raised in Little Marlow, near Oxford and was the son of Absolom and Caroline (née Freeman).  His father worked as a game keeper, and aged 13 (1861) Robert was working as an underkeeper. However by the time he married Helen in 1872 he was already working for the railway. Robert died in London aged 74 years old.
