Emily Caroline Maria Eaton (1863 – 1930)

Emily Eaton was born to Charles (1821 – 1876) and Sophia née Large (1822 – 1866)  on May 25th 1863. Her mother died when Emily was 3 years old and it is likely that she went to live with her married elder sister Ellen Flowers and her husband Charles at 7 Short St  as she was there in the 1871 census aged 7.  She was baptised at Castle Street Methodist chapel on May 4th 1873, at the age of 10, along with her her baby nephews William & Frederick Flowers.

When Ellen died in 1884 Emily became housekeeper to the family.
She remained at  7 Short St for the rest of her life.

She had one daughter, Ethelind.

When she became ill she was taken by her nieces to Mill Road Infirmary to be cared for and died a few days later at the age of 66.

Her brother Robert is buried in the parish of St Andrew the Less where he has a monument. Her parents Charles and Sophia are also buried in Andrew the Less but no monument has been found. Her sister Ellen, brother in law Frederick (d 1908), nephew Frederick and niece Ellen are also buried in Holy Trinity parish but no monuments have been found.
