Robert Eaton (1853 – 29 August 1898)
Robert was the son of Charles and Sophia and brother of Ellen, Emily and Henry. He grew up just off Magdalene Street (1861) and Charles Eaton worked as a labourer and later as a gardener. In 1871 Robert was living with his widowed father at 4 Morton Passage and was documented in the census of that year as being a labourer. He later moved to live with his sister Ellen and her family at 7 Short Street and worked as a college servant (1881). Robert married Jane Money at Cambridge Register Office on May 5th 1884, this was a double wedding with his brother Henry. Robert and Jane had tried to marry 2 years before but for some reason the certificate was not given. It is not sure if they knew about the state of affairs as they were living to gather at 6 Grafton Street when they had their first child Jane Ellen in January 1882. Sadly Jane Ellen died aged 10 months. A second daughter, May, was born in 1888 and died in 1890 aged 20 months
In 1891 Robert was working as a bill poster. He died in Addenbrooks hospital aged 45 years old.
Jane Elizabeth Eaton (née Money) (1848 – 9 November 1926)
Jane was born in Stretham, between Ely and Cambridge and was the daughter of agricultural labourer William and Jane (née Coulson). She worked as a domestic servant before her marriage to Robert Eaton and worked in Mile End, London (1871) and then 52 Rhadegund Buildings on Jesus Lane (1881). Jane lived at 30a Grafton Street ( 1900-at least 1910) before moving to 25 Prospect Row from at least 1925 onwards. She died there aged 78 years old.
