James Flack (1862 – 18 November 1931)

James was the illegitimate son of Emma (1823-1896), and grew up with his mother and four siblings at  28 Wellington Street, where Emma lived with her aunt Ann Flack. Aged 18 he was working as an apprentice painter and decorator and still living at home, before marrying Mary Cracknell in 1884. The couple are believed to have had six daughters: Mary Ann (1890- died as an infant), Clara (1891-1967), Jessie (1894-1959), Mary (1896-1898), Lily (1897-1986) and May (1899-1994). They lived at Burleigh Street (1891) and James worked as a painter/decorator, before briefly moving to run the Free Press pub at 7-8 Prospect Row (at least 1898 – August 1901). By 1911 they were living at the Bungalow, Milton Road and James was a small holder. He died in Cambridge aged 69 years old.

Mary Flack (1896 – 4 April 1898)

Mary died at the Free Press aged 22 months.

Mary Ann Flack (née Cracknell) (23 June 1864 – 19 November 1941)

Mary was the youngest daughter of Martin  (1825 -1889) and Clara (née Gatward) (1832-1890) and was raised at 26 East Road. Her father was a tailor and aged 15 Mary was living at 1 Newnham Terrace, where she was in service to widow Jane Godfray and her daughter. She married James Flack when she was 20 years old and after his death lived at Grasmere, 8 Kings Hedges Road with daughter May, and grandsons James and Francis Rolph. When the 1939 register was taken she was documented as being incapacitated, and died at home aged  77 years old.
