Using the Parish burial records it is believed that John Hills was buried with his wife and son

James Macrow Hills (1857 – June 1875)
James was the only son of John and Lydia Hills. He was born in Melbourn, and baptised there on 29 July 1860. Aged 14, he was living with his family at 129 Fitzroy Street and was working as a clerk. He died at home aged 18 years old and was buried at Mill Road Cemetery on 7 June.

Lydia Hills (née King) (1821- 16 July 1891)
Lydia was born in Melbourn, the daughter of John and Amy King. Her father was an agricultural labourer and Lydia married tailor Thomas Marshall (1821-1844) in 1841. The couple lived in Bassingbourn, but she was widowed aged 23 years and returned to live with her parents in Melbourn. Lydia married hairdresser John Hills on 25 May 1856 at St. James’ Church, Bermondsey. John was also from Melbourn and they had at least three children: James Macrow, Frances Louisa (known as Louisa) (1860-1935) and Emily Rosa (1865-1949). The family lived briefly in Shoreditch, where daughter Louisa was born, but by 1865 were living in Cambridge. John had a shop at 129 Fitzroy Street (at least 1865 onwards) and Lydia died there aged 70 years old. Her funeral was held on 21 July 1891.

John Hills (1835 – 14 December 1915)
John was the son of John (1809-1874) and Frances (née Macrow) (1811-1875) Hills and grew up on the High Street in Melbourn where his father was a hairdresser. Aged 17, he was a tailor’s apprentice, but later followed in his father’s profession. After he was widowed he lived with his daughter Emily and her family at 15 Argyle Street (1901) and 25 St. Phillip’s Road (1911). He died at home aged 88 years old.
