Monument
This headstone stands 2 row to the west of the central path as it bends towards the north gate. The carved inscription is still intact but hard to read. It is prone to being covered in ivy. According to the inscriptions recorded by CFHS the inscriptions for his brothers William & George are on the reverse of this stone but we did not find it and think there may be another stone nearby that has fallen.

Joseph Wallis c 1837 – 1882
Joseph was born n St Andrew’s the Less Cambridge to John & Sarah Wallis. John was a brewer
He married Ellen who was from Essex.
In 1871 Joseph & Ellen were living in Spittlefields, London with their 6 year old son John Joseph (1865-. By 1872 they had moved to Cambridge and were living at 190 Gwydir St. They had 2 more children Edith (1869 -1962) and Frederick 1876-
Ellen Walton née Clark, formerly Wallis (1844-1927))
Ellen was born in Eastwood, Essex
After she was widowed she married William Walton and Her daughter Edith married in 1892 they were living at number 180 Gwydir St.
