This simple limestone headstone, in St Andrew the Less parish area, has suffered considerable damage over the years.
Inscription
‘In loving memory of Jessie
the beloved wife of Charles Kerridge
who died Sept 6 1880 aged 31 years

Jessie Kerridge (née Footer) (1849 – 6 September 1880) – see Charles Kerridge Life Story page
Jessie was the son of James and Susan Footer and was born in in Exning, near Newmarket. James was a bricklayer and Susan ran a shop in the village. Aged 21, Jessie was working as a parlour maid at Exning Vicarage, and her sister Ruth was working as a housemaid in the same house. Jessie married builder Charles Kerridge (1848-1927) on 4 June 1872 in Exning and they had at least three children: Ada Jessie (1872-1964), Footer William (1875-1880) and Charles (1878-1949). Jessie died at Kingston Street, Cambridge and her funeral was held on 10 September.
Footer William Kerridge (1875 – 10 October 1880)
Footer died at Kingston Street a few weeks after his mother and was buried on 13 October.
After he was widowed Charles Kerridge, married Jessie’s younger sister Ruth. He ran a company called Kerridge and Shaw and the family lived at Hills Avenue, Cambridge. Charles and Jessie’s grandson was Kelsey Kerridge.
