Gertrude May Maltby (née Ellis) (13 May 1891 – 11 October  1947)

Gertrude was the daughter of Herbert John Ellis and Harriett (née Crewe) and was born in Cold Spring, Jamaica where her father was serving in the army. By 1911 Herbert had retired and the family were living at 6 Devonshire Road, Cambridge. Gertrude  worked as a clerk for a fishmonger before marrying Percy Louis Maltby (1889-1967) in 1917. They had at least one son: Darrell Ellis (1924-2010). Percy worked as a clerk for the ministry of labour and the family lived at 14 Earl Street (at least 1930 onwards). Gertrude died at Earl Street aged 56 years old.
