Mary Ramsbotham (née Lindsay)  (8 November 1802 – 4 February 1864)

Mary was born in Perth and was the daughter of Henry and Jane (née Sandeman).  She married Francis Henry Ramsbotham  (1800-1868) on 15 April 1830 in Perth and they had at least four children: Mary Lindsay (1834-1887), Henrietta Anne (1835-1885), Henry Lindsay (1838-1862) and Francis John (1842-1882). Henry was English, but had qualified as a physician in Edinburgh, and the family lived in London, where all four children were born. He worked as an obstetric physician and was said to be ’eminent as a lecturer and specialist in obstetrics’.  In 1851 the family were living at 14 New Broad Street  with four servants including a cook and a footman. By 1861 they had moved to live at 8 Portman Square. Mary died in Cambridge in February 1864 and her death was reported in local newspapers.

Henrietta Anne Ramsbotham (23 March 1835 – 29 August 1885)

Henrietta was the youngest daughter of Francis and Mary and was baptised at St. Botolph without Bishopsgate  Church  on 20 April 1836. She lived at hmome with her parents and then moved to Berkhampstead (1881) where she lived with a ladys companion and a general servant. Henrietta died at Leonard-on-Sea aged 49 and was buried with her mother in Cambridge.

Francis Ramsbotham died at his son’s house Perth in July 1868.  He was said to have died ‘suddenly, after several years of suffering’.
