Monument
This footstone was all that was found in 1999 by CFHS and as it is now under a large bush we have not been able to find it again. We can only assume that it went with a headstone that has fallen.
It is located in the northern section of the parish area of St Andrew the Great. Walking west from the centre circle count 12 rows along the east west path and then 10 monuments north.
The grave register was used to find the names.

Frederick Thomas; Rolfe (1910 – 1915)
Frederick was the 3rd child of Walter and Alice Rolfe he died at 3 St Mathew’s St aged 5.
Walter George Rolfe(1884 – 1919)
Walter was the son of James & Susan Rolfe. He was born at 48 New St and grew up at various addresses in Cambridge before moving to 10 St Matthews St where his father kept a fishmongers shop.
He became a carpenter and married Alice Langford on April 16th 1904 at St Matthew’s church. They moved to 9 Flower St and then 3 St Matthews St where Walter died age 35.
Walter’s family had suffered at least two tragedy’s, his aunt Emma Rolfe was murdered AL131, and his sister Louisa drowned AG533
Alice Rolfe née Langford (1883 – 1932)
Alice was the daughter of, shoemaker, Frederick and his wife Mary Ann. her mother died in 1887 and in 1891 Alice was living with her father and 2 siblings at 13 Gloucester Place, the home of her grandmother Jane. In 1901 she was living with her elder sister Julia. They were both working in a factory.
Alice bore at least 5 children Walter James Frederick George (1904), Grace Lily (1908), Frederick Thomas (1910 – 1915), Alice Victoria (1912) and Reginald George (1915). When Walter died she and Walter Junior would have been working but she still had 3 daughters at school.
