This headstone with ground slab stands 1 row to the west of the central path as it turns towards the north gate. The  lower half of the stone has eroded badly and the inscription in this section is now no longer legible.

In Memory of ANN only daughter of THOMAS & ANN SHIPP died  [September — 1858 in the 21st year of her age

Ann Shipp (1838 – 1858)

Ann was born in Cambridge her father Thomas, originally from Newington, was a publican. He married Ann Cook on December 21st 1829  at St Benedict’s church. Ann was baptised on January 5th 1838 at her mother’s parish church – St Botolph’s. At this time they were living in Pembroke St.  In 1841 they were living in Botolph Lane and by 1851 had moved to St Edwards Passage. When Ann died they were living at 35 Prospect Row where Thomas ran the Duke of Gloucester public house.

Ann died at home and was buried on September 8th 1858
