This grave has not yet been idendified in any survey of the Cemetery. It is believed to now be lost forever.
William Joseph Nightingale (1892 – 23 January 1913)
William was born in Coton, the only son of William (1861-1942) and Lucy Jane (née Nias) (1869 – 1939). In 1901 the family were living at 30 Castle Street, and William Snr was working as a general dealer. By 1911 William Snr was hospitalised at Fulbourn Asylum and William Jnr was living with his mother and sister Ada at 11 Grant Place. William Jnr was working as a motor driver, his mother as a factory worker in a jam factory.
William married Gertrude Emily Allen (1892-1977) on 17 December 1912 in Willingham. Gertrude had been born in Willingham and in 1911 was working as a general servants for two sisters at 110 Mawson Road. William died a few weeks after the wedding at 11 Granta Place aged 21 ‘after an operation’ and was buried in the Holy Trinity area of the Cemetery on 27 January. His widow and mother placed an advert in the Cambridge Independent Press thanking ‘their numerous friends for very kind sympathy shown in their heavy and sudden bereavement’.
His widow married a further two times. She married Osborn Matthew Papworth (1885-1948) in 1916 and George Arthur Wright (1892-1967) in 1955. She died in Willingham in 1977 aged 85 years old.
